Reshma Praveen
Consultant Psychologist
Department of Psychology
My passion for psychology stems from a deep commitment to supporting individuals through emotional, behavioural, and personal challenges with empathy, understanding, and evidence-based care. I believe that every individual deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered in their journey toward emotional well-being and personal growth. I hold a strong academic foundation in psychology, with specialised training in counselling and mental health support. My professional experience includes working closely with children, adolescents, parents, and educators in educational and counselling settings, where I have supported individuals facing emotional difficulties, behavioural concerns, social challenges, stress, anxiety, and adjustment-related issues.
My approach to counselling is centred on creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can openly express themselves and build confidence in overcoming challenges. I strongly believe that meaningful change happens through trust, collaboration, and compassionate guidance. I strive to help individuals develop emotional resilience, self-awareness, positive coping strategies, and healthy interpersonal skills that contribute to long-term well-being. In my practice, I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), behaviour-focused interventions, emotional regulation strategies, and solution-focused techniques tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
I am particularly passionate about promoting mental health awareness, early intervention, and holistic development, especially among children and young people. For me, psychology is not just a profession—it is a meaningful opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives. My goal is to support individuals in recognising their strengths, navigating life’s challenges with confidence, and achieving emotional balance and personal growth.
As a practitioner experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I specialise in helping individuals understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. CBT is an evidence-based, goal-oriented approach that focuses on identifying and restructuring negative thought patterns to improve emotional well-being and behavioural responses. In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to develop practical coping strategies such as cognitive restructuring, behavioural activation, and problem-solving techniques to support emotional regulation and everyday functioning.”
My experience in mindfulness-based approaches focuses on helping individuals develop present-moment awareness and emotional balance. Mindfulness encourages individuals to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, promoting self-awareness, stress reduction, and emotional resilience. In my practice, I incorporate breathing exercises, grounding techniques, relaxation strategies, and mindful reflection to help clients manage anxiety, improve focus, and respond to challenges in a calm and healthy manner.
My work in Behavioural and Emotional Interventions involves supporting individuals in developing healthy emotional responses and positive behavioural patterns. This approach is based on understanding behavioural triggers, emotional regulation, and the use of structured support strategies to encourage positive change. In my practice, I implement behavioural reinforcement techniques, emotional regulation strategies, coping skill development, and structured intervention plans tailored to individual needs to promote emotional well-being and adaptive behaviour.
My experience in Relationship and Interpersonal Counselling centres on improving communication, emotional understanding, and interpersonal relationships. This approach focuses on strengthening relationship dynamics, resolving conflicts, and fostering healthy emotional connections. In my practice, I support clients through active listening, communication skill-building, empathy development, and conflict resolution strategies to help them build healthier and more meaningful personal, social, and professional relationships.
